Let The Right One In

Tomas Alfredsons adaption of the John Ajvide Lindquist novel of the same name hit theatres in the US in a limited release back in October 2008.Soon after,an excited buzz about how great this entry in the genre was started to filter around. The title refers to the Morrissey song of the same name, but also the aspect of vampire lore which states that a vampire cannot enter a house unless invited first. What we have here is a truly original, horrifying, suspensful and breathtaking film which i'm sure will be given even more praise by horror fans once it hits the mainstream DVD market.

Set in the 1980's the film tells of a twelve year old boy called Oskar,a shy, constantly bullied boy whose life changes the night he meets Eli,a twelve year old girl (or so we think!) who moves into the appartment next door to him.Once introduced to each other a friendship bonds between them.
During this time,a string of slayings begin to occur in the town, the victims found drained of blood. The film is beautifully shot against a snow filled background, the night shots especially striking.

The film will be released on DVD here in the US on March 10th,unfortunately it has also been announced to be remade in 2010! Yet again more proof that it seems these days there's no writers of original product here anymore! Anyway, see this film as soon as it hits the shelves and witness a fresh *new life* in the vampire genre.
